Gender Pay Analysis at Sense Massage

Two Sense Massage therapists - man and woman in a busy officeAt Sense Massage Therapy, we are committed to fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity. As part of our regular internal reviews, we have analysed the average hourly earnings of our therapists over the past nine years to ensure that there is no gender-based disparity in pay.

Summary of Findings

Our data shows that, over time, average hourly rates for male and female therapists have varied from year to year. Some years, women have earned slightly more on average per hour, while in other years, men have. This variation is a natural outcome of our pay structure, where different visit types and durations command different hourly rates.

Importantly, these fluctuations do not reflect any gender-based policy or practice but are instead the result of a complex mix of job types, visit durations, and availability of work.

Overall Trends

gender pay chart from 2017-2025
The chart above shows the split of payments based upon hourly rates made to male and female therapists each year. While the balance shows slight variation over time, the overall trend demonstrates a consistent and even distribution. This reflects the natural year-to-year variation in bookings and availability rather than any systemic difference in pay. We are proud that our therapist network includes a strong and diverse mix of professionals, and we continue to allocate work based on location, skill and availability - never gender.

Across all years studied (2017–2025 YTD), the average hourly rate for female therapists was approximately 3% higher than that for male therapists. In some years, this difference has been more pronounced in either direction, but there is no consistent or systematic pattern favouring one gender over the other.

Our Commitment

We remain dedicated to ensuring that all therapists, regardless of gender, are paid fairly and equitably for the work they do. We do not and will never discriminate based on gender, and we will continue to review our practices regularly to uphold our commitment to equality.
